Absolutely Insist On Enjoying Life...
SOPYPAA's aim is to carry a clean, sober, spiritual and fun message to all alcoholics, young and young at heart. We do this by hosting events and meetings, and providing a sober community for all in need while striving, continually, to uphold our principles of unity, service and recovery.

Since its inception, a growing group of people, who at first would not consider themselves as "young people," has become regular attendees. The number of young people suffering from alcoholism who turn to AA for help is growing, and ICYPAA helps to carry AA's message of recovery to alcoholics of all ages. This meeting provides an opportunity for young AA's from all over the world to come together and share their experience, strength, and hope as members of Alcoholics Anonymous. Details: SOCALYPAA is the Southern California Young People's in Alcoholics Anonymous Conference. Its goal Is to carry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers by hosting an annual and large scale Young People's Conference. In doing this, SOCALYPAA hopes to foster a consistent and thriving fellowship.
The formation of SOCALYPAA stemmed from GSDYPAA, the Greater San Diego Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous committee, when some current and former members experienced the excitement and fervor brought by their partidpation In the ACYPAA 2008 bid process.
California is unique in that its community of young people in recovery is highly dense.
Southern California, in particular, has the largest population of young people in recovery in AA. Because of this, we of SOCALYPAA, feel that California will benefit greatly from a second annual YPAA Conference. The unifying effect of bidding for and hosting a conference of this scale is something that all areas should have the opportunity to experience. It is our hope that we will inspire other parts of California to develop conferences of their own.

Our Purpose
SOPYPAA is a service committee whose purpose is to unify young people in AA, and outreach the message of
Alcoholics Anonymous to all young people in northern Santa Clara and southern San Mateo Counties
including the communities of Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Stanford University, Mountain View, Los Altos,
Los Altos Hills, Sunnyvale, Portola Valley, and Cupertino.
We accomplish this by sponsoring young peoples meetings and events in our area of service. We also
work in cooperation with other area YPAAs to bid for conferences and co-host larger events. Finally, we
provide informational outreach to other local institutions and organizations including college campuses,
and recovery centers.
If you would like to be involved with SOPYPAA, come to the committee meeting AND join the Yahoo Group-
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SOPYPAA_BIZ/
or send an email to:
SOPYPAA_BIZ-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking, and we do not turn anyone away who
desires to be of service.
YPAA Websites
If you would like your YPAA's link listed here, please email us at webmaster@sopypaa.org. All we ask in return is that you add a link to us on your website.
SOPYPAA Archives
Stay Tuned. We are a new committee, so we don't have archives yet ;-)
SOPYPAA Committee Positions
Want to be involved? Come to our monthly business meeting. If you don't see a position below that is available, suggest a new one. The best way to stay sober is to be of service. We take the 3rd Tradition (The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking) very seriously, as the program of AA can be the difference between life and death for the suffering alcoholic. And for this reason, we DO NOT turn away anyone who wishes to be of service on our committee.
